Wearable Art!
Did you know? These denim jackets are a collaboration with Paige Albright Orientals. Heart appliqués created from vintage, Turkish, rug fragments, and hand embroidered embellishments, by our very own Gabby Herbert, merchandising coordinator in our Rosemary Beach, FL.
The Making of the Jackets:
Gabby graduated from Louisiana State University with her Bachelors in Textiles and Apparel Merchandising. She not only keeps the Rosemary Beach store in top shape, but she has been hard at work in creating one-of-a-kind denim jackets!
Paige Albright Orientals provided ExVoto with a collection of textiles that had been cut into hearts. Each of these textile fragments vary in size, shape, and color. Gabby has taken these pieces and has hand sewn them onto the back of denim jackets. She carefully picks the placement of each heart on the backs of the jackets before she begins embroidering.
Once the heart is in place, Gabby intentionally picks the colors for the embroidery that will be the most cohesive and interesting with the heart textile. Her knowledge of colors and design can be seen in her beautiful embroidery. The artisanship makes each jacket a unique piece of wearable art!
