ExVoto is excited to kick off its seventh annual Crayons to Cure crayon drive for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital treats 240 children daily. September is childhood cancer awareness month, and in honor of the children who fight each day, ExVoto started Crayons To Cure, a crayon donation drive for the children of St. Jude Hospital.

ExVoto owner/designer Elizabeth Adams’ daughter Madeline, was treated at St. Jude Hospital after she was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable brain tumor in 2007. “I can tell you first-hand how much this hospital uses crayons!” said Adams. Every day, as the patients wait for their doctor’s appointments, they draw with crayons. However, because cancer patients are very susceptible to illness, this is one time in childhood when sharing is not allowed. Because of cross-contamination considerations, each box of crayons must remain with the child who first opened that box. “Needless to say, St. Jude Hospital goes through a LOT of crayons!,” Adams said. “I have been told by their staff that at the hospital that ‘crayons are like water’.” Throughout the month of September, ExVoto will be accepting crayon donations in all showroom locations and online. The ExVoto Team will deliver crayons to St. Jude’s at the end of the month. Last year, ExVoto collected over 3,800 boxes of crayons, and our team was able to deliver them to St. Jude.
