I recently had the opportunity to visit Oaxaca, Mexico.  I stayed at the Hotel Hacienda Los Laureles which was created from a hacienda originally built the early 1800's.  Timbers on the ceilings, terracotta floors, stucco walls and grounds full of tropical plants.

I traveled with only minimal jewelry. My 14K shield necklace and Pave earrings were pretty much what I wore each day.  Oh and my Swallow and Stars Tee and Wooden Ships light cardigan in black (available here in light gray and in our showrooms in blush.)

I visited a few of the markets and really want to go back again and visit the others!

The architecture was so colorful and I really enjoyed just walking downtown.  The buildings and homes are painted in such joyful colors.  You can see the bright architecture from the sky as you approach the city by plane!

I met this terrific family that has created traditional Oaxaca silver jewelry for three generations.  I brought back some amazing earrings of theirs to share with you!  It takes two to three days to create each pair! These statement earrings are gorgeous works of art.  I also brought back some beaded bracelets created from the traditional Oaxaca black pottery.  Smooth black beads on a stretchy elastic base.  Simple and fabulous for adding extra interest to your stack of bracelets!

A photo of me and two of the members of the artisan family who creates the earrings.  They are so kind and joyful.  It was great to meet them and I hope we can continue to work together!
