About the Artist
Nell loves to paint with color and texture and manipulate the materials. Her artwork often incorporates layers of acrylic, gel, oil pastel, graphite and other mediums. She experiments in most bodies of work by altering the mediums with water, sand and other fibers which adds an element of surprise while creating. Nell paints with loose and gesturally brush marks and does not want to be tied to a particular style. When painting, mixing and layering, she is always wondering....“what happens if?” Nell's work is inspired by her surroundings whether it be travel, music, people, an event or sometimes just her mood.
With a background in advertising and graphic arts, Nell's early works were very structured and linear. Through years of experimentation, her artwork has evolved to gesturally and free form. She loves color and texture. The layers, movement and color in the works of Willem de Kooning have provided inspiration for Nell. She is always playing with a variety of mediums and creates works that keep the eye moving around the canvas. Nell's curiosity keeps her continually emerging as an artist.
About the Designer
Esther Rel, founded by Kayla Rel Giraldo, derives its name from her great Aunt Esther, whose adventurous spirit and captivating travel stories deeply inspired Kayla. Drawing inspiration from her aunt’s adventurous spirit, Kayla chose the name Esther to honor her beloved relative.
Established in 2019, Esther Rel was born from Kayla Giraldo’s passion for quality swimwear while residing in Santa Rosa Beach. Initially crafting swimsuits for personal use, Kayla's impeccable designs quickly garnered attention from friends eager to own her creations. Motivated by this positive reception, she embarked on a journey to Medellin to explore avenues for producing her swimwear on a larger scale.
Today, Esther Rel operates with a dedicated team committed to ethical practices and social responsibility. By employing single mothers with dependent children, the brand ensures the exceptional quality of its products while empowering women in the community.
