How She Styles It

Today’s How She Styles It blog post features interior designer, and store owner, Ashley Gilbreath.  We are big fans of Ashley’s skills with interiors (see our post, ExVoto Goes to Parish) and we knew she would style ExVoto pieces with equal flair.
Ashley is pictured in her shop, Parish, wearing the suede tassel necklace paired  with the Classic necklace in the etched link chain.
On the average out-of-control and chaotic day of Ashley’s,  she can usually be spotted wearing a pair of skinny jeans, flats and a cute top.  However, her go-to outfit for a date-night would be a long maxi dress with gladiator sandals.
Ashley claims her personal style philosophy is whatever is clean and hanging in her closet.  We know how truly stylish she is, though.  Anyone who lists Lauren Hutton as her style icon knows a thing or two about timeless and classic!  Her “secret weapon” beauty product is Aveda Air Control hairspray.  (All true Southern girls know the usefulness of a good hairspray.)
Ashley loves the 33″ Graham necklace in turquoise and gold, which is on her wish list (hint, hint).
As I always say, you can learn a lot about a person by asking their favorite quote.  I love that her favorite quote is from a woman, and a famous Alabamian at that, Helen Keller.  Here it is:
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.  Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
Ashley’s life is full of beauty.  Beautiful family, beautiful home, a store full of beautiful things.  However, she knows a thing or two about the character-developing trails and suffering that Helen Keller speaks of in this quote.  She shared a bit of her story recently on her blog. Once you read her story, you will see that Ashley represents not only beauty, but depth of character as well.
